Harlequin Rabbits
Our Harlequin herd is where our interest in showing rabbits and raising pedigreed rabbits has really begun.
We raise both of the Harlequin groups, Magpie and Japanese, and all four of the color variations in each group - Black, Blue, Chocolate and Lilac.
In 2016 we were honored to receive the Best of Breed at the ARBA Convention in Del Mar, CA with our very first home grown Grand Champion, SRRP Melantho. Melantho retired to the breeding barn thereafter with 7 GC Legs and has produced some of our very best stock.
In 2017 we enjoyed continued success with a number of our Harlequins, including the debuts of SRRP The Art of Resistance and SRRP Stars In My Eyes. At the end of the year we were also able to acquire a considerable portion of the Gem's Rabbitry stock during it's dispersal.
2018 produced a number of successful animals as well, including our much loved SRRP MagicMan. Magic earned a BIS for the Harlequin Specialty at West Coast Classic - defeating 52 other harlequins to snag the top honors. He retired from the tables with 13 GC legs and is producing outstanding Japanese.
2019 was one of our best years yet! In March we debuted SRRP Hansel and SRRP Gretel (or the wonder "twins" as we call them around the barn), as well as SRRP Rebel Alliance. All three have done amazing. During her short show career, SRRP Gretel has earned a BIS Specialty, a 3rd place out of over 20 Jr Japanese does at Nationals, and 9 GC Legs - all in 5 show weekends! SRRP Rebel Alliance has earned 3 BOSB, 5 BOG and 4 GC Legs and has also retired to the breeding barn. SRRP Hansel is continuing on with his show career, currently sitting with a BIS Specialty, a 3rd place out of 24 jr Japanese bucks at Nationals, and 13 GC Legs. Even more exciting, SRRP The Art of Resistance emerged from his show retirement to travel to the Harlequin National Show in Franklin, IN to place as the top Senior Magpie buck and BOSG! We also brought home from the 2019 ARBA Convention a lovely jr magpie doe and the BOSG Magpie - Gatewood Turning Shades of Grey!
Although our show season was cut short by COVID, we did have a spectacular showing at the March 2020 Blue Mtn Show in Hermiston. SRRP Hansel ended his show career with a Reserve in Show!
In 2021 and early 2022 we said goodbye to some of our foundation bucks. Rainy Days Handyman, Rainy Days Muddy Buddy, Three Cedars Berserker and SRRP Melantho all took the journey over the rainbow bridge.
We have made the decision in 2022 to only offer stock from here on out to current breeders, past buyers and 4H members. WE DO NOT SELL PETS!!! Unfortunately we are seeing too many substandard animals being sold and are doing our part to avoid being part of the problem.
